I bought these to attach to the elastic mask straps I make (you can also use them on the masks you buy). They're a little tricky to put on which is good as you don't want them falling off easily but other than that they're fantastic for providing adjustable mask straps.

I add these to the elastic of my handmade cotton face masks and they make it easy for the wearer to adjust the elastic as it loses strength over time. For their application, you can use a tapestry needle or a narrow needle. They're a little difficult to put on, but that's a good thing as they hold up tight.

These little buttons saved my mask making! No more trying to sew 1/4 inch elastics together only to find they are too tight or too big for the wearer. I've also tried the little round button style, but prefer these little barrel switches. Basically, it was much easier to thread the elastic in it. I used a small crochet hook and threaded the elastic through, then knotted the ends. Very easy. The best part is that the masks are now adjustable!
