If you have access to a craft store, save $10 and buy big pony (dog) pompoms. Zero noise reduction. I think they could only work when they were distracted.

Easy to put on, keep in place and easy to take off. I bought two pairs of these in case I need them on the 4th of July. I have a one year old this year and wasn't sure how he would handle it. Well, he didn't handle it at all. Even with the barn lights on and the radio loud, he was still nervous.
