Works great and has extremely fast transfer speeds

I use this with 2 Western Digital 2TB green hard drives and the boy does a great job of dumping and backing up. Pros - Works much better than my Drobo when I'm not. I don't need as much redundancy and just do a quick laptop or desktop backup. Instantly recognized by many different BIOSes and compatible with USB 2 and USB 3. The cable is a bit short but it uses the standard power cord that many people carry separately.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction

Good design but too loud. The USB cable is TOO short.

This is for (TS231U-C). As for the cabinets, this one looks pretty good, is well built and I'm proud to have it on my desk. I put two SATA drives in there, connected everything, booted, and then WHAT? This thing looks like a jet plane getting ready to take off! Okay, maybe not too bad, but the USB cable is so short that I can't move the thing far enough to tolerate that noise. There is also no fan speed control. Honestly, why did they stop at a great product with this nonsense? So I returned…

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • protection

Looks like a very good design. The subtle instructions on the installation CD but easy to understand setup of the 54x 3TB drives give me about 8.5TB of formatted space. Connects via USB 3, replaces added SCZI card in DELL Precision WS for half the cost of a new card. Runs very quietly - there is no way to disable the 5 minute idle transition to sleep that I see. Reference is made to this SOP in the manual. Now dead – just three years later. I turned it off to move the device while I was working

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • High price

Not the best Silverstone product I've had

I bought this unit hoping to add storage to a Qnap NAS. I took 3 x 5TB drives from a previous RAID and after repartitioning put them in an enclosure and reset the RAID. All I got were beeps. Without the supplied manual, I found the manual on the Silverstone website. Nothing about horns. After replacing 5 different (used) 3TB and 5TB drives I thought it might be the NAS. So I pulled the device out of the rack and connected the USB cable to one of my computers. Regardless of the combination of…
