I haven't had this cover for a long time and I wash it often. A couple of times there was mold under the lid. ROUGH! I thought it was poor maintenance on my part, but whatever, the mold gets under the lid. Now it's under the cover AND under the sealant which there is no access to. UPDATE: I managed to get the smell out and use this lid BUT it comes back easily (like leaving green tea in it overnight before putting it in the wash) and then really difficult to get rid of, even after soaking and cleaning. I think removing the silicone ring helped remove it, but other lids I've had have a tight ring that keeps anything from getting under (or growing) underneath.
