Simpson Strong on Collated Fasteners

Fast delivery, good quality. House renovation circa 1900. Replacement paneling and windows. Prefer SST nails to galvanized ones. They are less likely to rust and ruin a painted exterior.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • repair

They bend too easily

These nails were so inconvenient to use (both for siding and brick moldings around windows). They curve left and right compared to other nails I've used. I wouldn't buy them again as I've spent so much time pulling out bent nails.

Pros
  • Fasteners
Cons
  • Doubtful

Good grip but a little flimsy

The rings on them give a good grip for driving in fairing nails but are a little weak for driving in by hand and can bend if you hit hardwood or a little wrong. If I was pounding nails all day I might get used to it and avoid problems, but they feel a little flimsy compared to similarly sized regular nails. On the other hand, due to their circular shape, they are of course a bit more difficult to handle. It took a long time to ship them from Ace Hardware. Good but not perfect.

Pros
  • Fasteners in the strap
Cons
  • Some minor things

Local shops only had trim nails with lumpy, shapeless heads instead of thin, broad heads. I've found them to be perfect for replacing the cedar planks in my house and reinstalling old planks that have completely rusted nails. Also works great on my mahogany deck (Kambara) where it seems they were originally used by builders (I save and save on stainless steel nails when I replace floorboards). shaped like spikes that are hard to remove if you mess up!

Pros
  • Industrial and Scientific
Cons
  • I don't remember
