Doesn't reduce the hydrogen sulfide smell

The price is right as I had hoped but this filter does not reduce the hydrogen sulfide smell (rotten eggs) from our well water. We use it as a filter for the whole house. This went on for about a week before the smell returned. I've only found one brand that really stops the smell, 5000+ gallons, but they always sell out so I decided to give them a try. live and learn

Only lasted a week on well water, waste of money.

They're supposed to last several months and up to 15,000 gallons, but on our well water with a pre-filter cartridge, they only lasted a week. We usually use Culigan D10s which are good for 250 gallons and we get 3 to 4 weeks on one D10 cartridge so I think it's all hype and pure junk. Don't waste money. Luckily they have free returns so we will refund them.

NO CARBON FILTER

THIS IS NOT A CARBON FILTER BUT A REAL GRANULATED CARBON FILTER. the granules in the filter are moving. Carbon block filters have no granules and are made of solid carbon. Solid carbon block filters are better and have improved filtration compared to pellets. The price is right, but as I said. Buyer beware.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • Unreliable

Reduce bad odors that reverse osmosis filters can't

My tap water has a bad smell. I installed a reverse osmosis filter but it doesn't help much. But this filter greatly reduces it. I am very happy with this filter. This filter works much better than an expensive reverse osmosis filter! The only problem is that the silicone rubber insulators are too strong and I can't tighten the case cover. Water is leaking out. I boiled the silicone rubber for a few minutes and that solved the problem.

Pros
  • Large selection

This will do the trick!

Everything is ok with us and now we have to chlorinate regularly. To get rid of the chlorine taste, we installed one of these charcoal filters as a last stop before we pipe the house. So far we only drink water that has gone through the reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink. We compared the taste before and after reverse osmosis, reverse osmosis tastes better, but the water before it doesn't taste like chlorine at all.

Pros
  • Few competitors

  • Almost everything ok

Slightly improves the taste of water

A while back I bought some cheap activated carbon block filters which actually made our water taste a lot worse. I think it was the taste of iodine. Needless to say, they got rid of them. I bought them because they were reasonably priced and the price was between the most expensive and cheapest filters. This can be the case if you get what you pay for. They improve the taste of our water somewhat, but not as much as the expensive filters I've used.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • For the old one

Good filter if not broken.

Filters work fine but one of them was clearly damaged and passed quality control. It broke in the plastic shrink wrap. Edit: 7/24/2021 I bought them again to give them another chance. I am changing my rating to five stars. The packaging has changed since my last review. The filters are now packed in plastic in a small box. None of the filters I received this time were broken. For the price they are great and work great. It is now unlikely that you will receive a defective item.

Cons
  • unreliable

Great standard size filter for our whole house filter

I find it "weird" that he wants to rate me "taste". There is no taste associated with this filter. We live in the country and our water is "good" but the mineral content is high enough that it really helps reduce build-up in sinks, baths, showers, etc. We filter it again. in a pitcher of water for boiling and drinking, and it produces GOOD quality water for our whole house. We change the filter every 2 months, not every 3, depending on how quickly it seems to be "clogged", just to make sure the

Works well, good price

Installs like any other filter. After a few months, the water tastes great and looks great. Every few months our municipal water company adds chlorine (chloranine?) to the water. The water will have a specific smell within a week. I bought these activated carbon filters to help with that. They seem to reduce the strength of the smell but I still notice it. The filter in my fridge now completely removes the smell. So they're not perfect, but they're an improvement. As with any filter, lifespan…
