It twists and clicks to stay open and twists and clicks to stay closed. In addition, the large, easy-to-grip handle is comfortable to hold. This tool looks nice and sharp.

If it opens and closes I would love it. Since it doesn't, I've found it doesn't want to stay open when in use. I bought it to hang on a cord so it's always handy, but since it opens by itself it's not safe to hang around the neck.

This works great if you have joint and fine motor problems. The only compromise I've found is that since the device's footprint is slightly larger, I misjudged how far I was from my tissue when I placed it on the table next to me and almost accidentally punched a hole punched into my handkerchief.

I've owned a lot of seam rippers over the years. I'm currently switching between my ergonomic one and the one with the "delete" thread, if only they would make one that could do both. I purchased this product because I made a mistake on a project I was working on and had to disassemble it. I have many Singer products in the exact same design, black and pink with the Singer logo. So I fully expected this seam ripper to be of the same high quality as other products I have purchased. I was not disappointed. The Ripper is designed as a pocket knife that folds into one handle when not in use and stays folded or unfolded and ready to use with a click. I love it. I have no children
