My mother gave me this serger when it first came out in the 1990's and I have used it ever since. It's very easy to use, very easy to thread, uses whatever spools of thread you have, is lightweight, doesn't weigh much (maybe 3 pounds if that's the case), and is very portable. The only downsides I can think of are that it runs slowly, doesn't turn on the light while sewing, and doesn't cut the fabric like a larger serger.
