I bought these for my 5 year old and bought them a size up. They fit well and there is velcro on the front to tighten them with a drawstring at the top. We have 6 inches of snow in North Carolina and he could be outside for hours without complaining.

I wanted these for my son. They are light and feel warm. The reason I am returning them is that they are not of very good quality. A tug on the rope to tighten them by the feet, and the beads jumped off the thread and began to break. I don't risk it. I sent them back and they arrived today. Also, my son wears a size 8 sneakers. I bought a size 8 and they are huge. Definitely not true to size.

Uff everything was fine at first but the rope holding it broke after just a few weeks. They also never tightened heavily - I had to constantly fix them while the kids were out in the snow. The velcro doesn't really do anything - we ended up buying another pair of boots because any activity in the snow was enough for the velcro or laces to come undone and they kept falling off. This year I definitely ordered lace-up boots. I bought these because it's really hard for me to spend that much money…

In general, the boots are not bad. I was very disappointed that the plastic runner on one of the boots broke when my son first wore them. It was all shattered, and when I went to check it all fell into lots of little pieces. Considering they came straight out of the box into my son's closet and only taken out once so he could try them on before first use, I'm guessing that was either at the time of shipping or before shipping. They still keep his feet warm and dry with or without the slider so…
