Shocks good. The upper polymer bushings are soldered.

Rear PE bushings worn out in 52 months with very little mileage. The dampers seem fine but have now replaced the entire rear unit. Improvements: I bought new polymer bushings and upgraded the mount, the stock jeep mount probably did a lot to destroy the original bushings.

Pros
  • Hardened and double chrome 5/8" stem
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Good shocks are the best in powertrain products

I am very pleased with the ride quality of these shocks, they are much better than the stock I have had on my Jeep before. The Jeep is more stable on the road, overcomes bumps better. They're a bit stiffer than stock shocks, but I have a feeling they make you ride better. Keep in mind I haven't driven a production jeep with Old Man Emu shocks for comparison so take it for what it's worth! I would buy again.

Pros
  • Red polyurethane bushings
Cons
  • Some bugs

It's a hassle to prepare for installation

I have installed shock absorbers on cars several times in the past and have never had a kit without rubber/silicone bushings pre-installed. It was a struggle to put them into shock and I spent more time on seals than putting them on the car. I watched a few YouTube videos and ended up buying a small vise. Next time I'll make sure the shocks are ready to be installed out of the box. They drive great in a 99 Jeep Wrangler.

Pros
  • Multi-Stage Speed Sensing Valve
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
