Not only did hair and other small objects stay out of the drain, they eventually floated in the water and continued to rise. So no, it didn't work for me as described. Good thing, sorry it didn't work for me.

Very good at catching all the hair before it goes down my tub's pull out drain. It may only be used for showering and the bathtub drain must be open. If you have a slow drain or if you have a long shower and there is 2 inches or more of water in the tub, the plug will start to move (float). I wish it had more weight to hold it in place. Easy to Clean: Simply remove and discard human or dog hair, then wipe or rinse. It suits me.

Their design is so-so. I prefer a simple screen design, but this type has its pros and cons. I bought this specifically for my shower drain but it is preventing water from flowing down the drain. As if there weren't enough waterholes or something. It just fills my tub with water and makes showering a hassle because you have to pick it up and put it down every time you want the water to drain. Not perfect and not something I want to use again. Does what it's supposed to do, but also prevents water from running off too quickly. So while my hair is kept out of the drain, not everything wraps nicely around this drain cover like I expected. It's strewn all over the floor of my shower, left behind as the water slowly drains away.
