Great RX, terrible TX

This little guy fails. I used it on my UV-5R for about a month. The reception is fantastic, no noticeable drop. However, the TX range is greatly reduced. That's not a problem, I still have the original antenna in my bag, so if I need to go a little further I just switch back.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons

I love these little short antennas

I love these little short antennas. Very flexible - you can bend it all the way and it will snap back into place. Reception is very decent for its size. I use it in a two-unit complex on both UHF and VHF. If you want more range, you should get a longer antenna. But when you're using in a limited and predictable area, the convenience of such a short flexible antenna is just wonderful. Buy a few and use them on Baofeng UV-5R and UV-82 models.

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Suitable

Nice little antenna!

Small but strong. This little antenna surprised me with its ability to rotate. Originally only intended for urban use for local IRLPs or very local repeaters, I was pleasantly surprised to find repeaters in more remote areas. Sure, maybe all the stars are aligned right now and I might be wearing my lucky socks, but I'm still happy with them and would pack another one in my bag. A disadvantage is the dust cover on the underside of the antenna. won't reach the top of the radio, but a rubber…

Pros
  • One-year trial
Cons
  • Only available in white

Perfect for downsizing your rig without sacrificing range!

I bought one of these for my Alinco DJ-500T and I love it. This allows my setup to fit in my jacket pocket without having to keep it on my side all the time, and even when it's on my side the radio is clearly visible. I even get people asking what this setup is just because radio is fun with it! It accommodates my local relays and I can have small simplex chats. Not intended for long-distance use, but having local repeaters programmed into your rig means you don't have to worry about too many…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities

  • Not sure

Nice compact antenna for Baofeng

I have a BF-F8+ and need a shorter carrying antenna that is out of the way. The rubber that covers this antenna is very thin and flexible (feels like silicone) as is the antenna underneath, so ergonomically almost perfect. I haven't tried it with an antenna analyzer yet, so only rough tests so far. I scanned the frequencies 136-174 and 400-520 MHz. Noticed frequencies at slightly weaker constant gears. I compared this antenna (just over 2 1/2 inches) to the standard Baofeng antenna that came…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Crumpled
