Nice design - feels very sturdy

The lock function on this product seems light years ahead of similar products. We struggled with the cheap ones for years as they tend to loosen and flop too easily. This is a problem when using camera mounted field monitors, wireless microphone receivers, etc. I think it's because these cheap ones use a set screw directly on the ball rather than clamping the ball between two housing halves as is the case here. Our first big test is filming this weekend, but I suspect it will pass with flying…

Versatile but poor support

I bought this small swivel mount to mount an Atomos Ninja V monitor/recorder to a Sony FDR-VX700 camera. The hot shoe is recessed, usually covered by a small door. You will need a shoe mount that is less than about 1 inch in diameter to fit in the recess. The SmallRig mount fits perfectly but needs to be rotated to hold the Ninja V in place. With no registration pins on the arm, the Ninja V tends to twist under the tension of the HDMI cable or simply gravity. Since then I've found other devices

Unlike other ball heads I've tried, these wear well; I think it's mostly due to the construction clamping almost the entire sphere rather than the screws cutting into the spheres. They can be changed in no time at all, even when you are working in the field. I've been
