The best solution for our problem child

We have a horse that is tied to a trailer all day and never moves. hurt him or someone else. We are starting to travel more with our horses to different places with our kids as they are old enough to compete. Although this horse has been shown since he was 2 years old and is now 9 years old there is no reason why he should behave this way, he knows the rules but we are here anyway. Essential for a horse that pulls backwards or for training.

I "inherited" a 17 year old horse that unpredictably withdraws when tied to a trailer (I look after my stepfather's horses). His halters are broken, the halters are jamming the half rings on the trailer etc. My SD, who has worked with horses all his life, said he has tried everything and is stuck. The aphrodisiac effect of a trailer ride.

Oh, horses. It doesn't matter how much they despise each other at home, what gender they associate with, but throw a couple in a trailer together for 30 minutes and love is in the air. And no healthy love. but a toxic codependency that spoils the joy of a pleasant outing. It took me a pair of broken leather halters and an embarrassing exhibition race chasing a pathetic, love- and breakup-sick gelding before I gave up and wasted so many dollars a click.
