Thin enough to wear under a helmet

I use them in summer to wick sweat. In winter it acts as an extra layer for warmth. It's well made and lasted 3 seasons so I bought a second one.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Wasn't expecting it from Hats & Caps

I bought this to warm my head when I go to the gym in the morning. I thought it was good based on the reviews. It doesn't warm the head and barely covers the tops of the ears. I have to constantly pull it down to cover my ears and I have a small to medium sized head.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • I can't remember but there was something

EXCELLENT PACKAGING, WARM HAT

I liked this one so much I found a store nearby that sold the same hat for the same price. Smartwool rarely sells things at a discount. The hat is well worth the price and loves the packable features. This is their light but warm beanie, the next model is double layered and reversible. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Exorbitant price

Very light heat storage

Love how light it is. I can fold it down to a tiny size and put it in my purse when I need a little extra warmth. Update - a year later. Still going strong. This is the hat that attracts me the most. Keeps your head warm without adding weight. I usually shower in the morning and don't dry my hair so in the winter it helps keep my hair from freezing and freezing lol.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Only available in black

Stay away. The Smartwool brand no longer stands for quality.

I bought a pair of these a few years ago, they were great hats. I lost one so I decided to get a few more. Unfortunately, like many other companies, Smartwool seems to have sold out, relying on the reputation of its name rather than producing quality products. This hat is very thin, feels more like polyester than wool and has lost its stretch after one wash and is so loose it doesn't fit a 7-3/4" head. Time to look for another look around the brand.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Some trouble

Nice light hat but not perfect.

I wear this around the house in the winter and the amount of warmth it provides is perfect, also wear it under another thicker wool hat or beanie when needed as an extra layer of insulation. Two stars deducted because this color (grey) shows sweat stains and other stains easily and I haven't been able to remove them completely yet and because the hat is so thin and small it's too easy to lose sight of and for the price it does What I don't want to lose is that I would prefer a wool blend to…

took a flyer - best buy of the year

love this thing. I walk for fitness and so my osteochondrosis doesn't cripple me. that also means cold weather so I needed a hat to wear so my bowler hat wouldn't freeze but the sweat wouldn't drip off me. the usual knitted hat is ready. it's just right, breathes well, keeps me warm but doesn't retain excess heat or moisture. I saw it on a hiker review site and decided "why not" - best purchase I've made this year. it doesn't look ridiculous in work clothes, either, but keeps my ears from…

Pros
  • very good price
Cons
  • there are nuances

I lose and buy a lot of these

I seem to be in 4th or 5th place right now (including the SmartWool Merino Balaclava). For some reason I can never understand where they are going, but I love the SmartWool Merino hats so much I don't want to try any others. They breathe very well and are very versatile. I wore it under a helmet, cycling in the snow, cross country skiing, as a hat for running, and then just for everyday use (and under headphones). It offers an amazing amount of warmth and performs well across a wide range of…

Very disappointed! the best in Man

I expected a lot more for this money from this brand. I love many of their other products but am very disappointed with this hat. For one, it's too small and won't stay in place. That might sound very light to some, I mean extremely light weight (so much that you can easily see through the fabric). It just doesn't work the way I expected based on the description. May I suggest doing men's and women's sizes, or at least a few unisex sizes. I needed a hat that can be layered to keep me warm while

Pros

  • poorly thought out
