Love this amazing set of circuits

Bought this for my eight year old son for Christmas. Both his father and I were electronics technicians in the Navy and I thought it would be interesting to share my experience with him. We haven't had a chance to play with him yet and today I've been busy in my office. My son was playing in his room and came to my office to show me how he made the fan circuit by reading the manual. Of course, once we put the batteries in and closed the switch, everything worked like clockwork. This is a great…

Pros
  • Build over 300 experiments with over 60 parts
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

MY GOD! The best gift for a radio amateur's grandson and grandfather!

This is the best gift I can think of. That night my 5 year old grandson and I spent hours building project after project - simple lights with switches, alarms with different volumes etc from the first section. When I arrived to take him to kindergarten I found that he was waking his father up at 6am to build more. In the evenings after school we packed an AM radio and a wireless microphone. Too bad that one project has to be dismantled in order to build another. The organization, color coding…

Pros
  • Parts included: wire ties, slide switch, resistor, microphone and capacitors
Cons
  • Expensive

Great kit to encourage learning

I bought this to teach my 9 year old how to make electrical circuits. She is very excited and makes every build and reviews them in the guide. Once we have all the builds done we go back and do them again with a DMM and let them learn how to measure voltage and find problems, maybe even use a lab microscope instead of a DMM. I caught her doing it alone, she thinks it's so funny. My only two complaints are that the instructions don't really show which circuits are the base layer/second…

Pros
  • LEARN BY DOING - Designed for young engineers and manufacturers aged 8+.
Cons
  • Socket Required

Unleash your childlike curiosity with this toy

My 6 year old son loves it. He plays with her the most out of his birthday toys. First I had to sit down with him and show him how the diagram in the manual was laid out. Once he understood the coordinates of the grid, he went to collect the plans. So far his favorite is the helicopter. This is a fun toy for him to understand the flow. He calculated that if the engine overturned in the tracks, the helicopter would not take off. He then asked if he could add another accumulator and what that…

Pros
  • Experiments include: light-sensitive electronic organ, polygraph, AM radio, two-finger touch lamp and more!
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

I am a babysitter and bought this for my 7 year old boy who is a bit interested in robotics. He's really into Lego and building things, but I wanted something he could use more than the one time you usually put together a Lego set before it settles down. I had a hard time deciding whether to buy this set or the junior set because it's intended for ages 8+, but I'm glad I got this one! I also just graduated from high school so I used circuit sets in my physics class recently and was scared of…
