Advantages: Dry watercolors, such as cakes, have a long shelf life and are easily activated with water. Washes off easily. Does not stain clothing. It doesn't look like much. But with this pack you can make many faces. Does not feel greasy and does not tear in the skin folds (e.g. in the mouth or eye creases). Cons: The included sponge is not good. (Buy multiple packs of sponges at Walmart alongside cosmetics for $1.) We bought this for solid color coverage of our faces when our family dressed…

My revised review: I ordered this for my son's school project and when it arrived I thought the paint was completely dry and that one color was missing. When my son came home from school, he informed me that this type of face paint is activated by water, which is normal. The "missing" color was pasted onto the underside of another color. Sigh. I needed some face paint for my 4 year old Halloween costume. The only makeup I could find in stores was for kids 8+ or creamy makeup that I didn't really want to use.
