Smart socket that can be hacked

Now I have about 8 of these. I like the ability to just disassemble the device and reflash the processor. I use ESP Home with Home Assistant and they are very easy to set up. I took some Meross Smart Plugs but they cannot be disassembled and reflashed for their own purposes. You can't go wrong with the Sonoff S26.

Pros
  • Tools and household goods
Cons
  • Boring packaging

Easy to use IOT device!

I am addicted to the Sonoff line of products. I discovered Sonoff's basic Wi-Fi smart switches through a YouTube video a few years ago and built some extenders that have proved invaluable around the home. It's so nice to be able to turn devices on and off from anywhere via the app instead of having to walk around the house to do it manually! I bought this set of two switches to control a fan and another device. Easily customizable with the Android app. Easy to program. It just works!

Pros
  • Socket Switch
Cons
  • Socket Required

Very easy to set up. when the server is running

I love the basic SonOff units and have over 12 running. I like the smart plug form factor so I bought two. From the start I had trouble setting it up. In each case, the app found the device but couldn't get device information, so the installation failed. I must have tried at least 6 times with the same result. So I ordered a replacement and it worked right away. Then I tried again with atomic number two and they installed without any problems as well. So lesson learned: these devices are great…

Pros
  • Electrical
Cons
  • New competitors have arrived
