For the size and shape the sound quality is decent. They aren't designed for noise cancellation, which is one of the reasons I buy them. I use them for running and working, so I like to be aware of my surroundings. I bought them specifically for training and wanted to save money I would have spent on the MDR-Q68LW. I fell in love with this style of headphones after buying a pair of Sony MDRQ22 years ago and then switching to the MDR-Q23 when the Q22 was discontinued and I needed another pair. This is a great successor in terms of iteration of this product line. The fit and feel is very similar with the unique on-ear clip still located over the ear in regards to headphone drivers.
