Good Price: Home Audio

I recently bought this Sony receiver to replace a much older Pioneer receiver that has failed and is a JVC replacement that I threw away out of frustration. I believe the best aspects of this receiver are reflected quite well and consistently in other good reviews. Nothing fancy, a budget receiver that does great home theater movies and vastly improves the performance of most flat screen TV speakers. It's easy to connect your iPod to the receiver and get great sound. On the back of the Sony…

Pretty good value for money but not easy to set up

Wanted a new receiver to complement my other new home entertainment/HTPC. I wanted an inexpensive receiver to connect everything via HDMI. It took some time and a little reading of the instructions to figure out how to do it right. The menu navigation on the receiver is quite confusing, but I think the little effort is made up for by the lower price. It's only been installed for a few days, but performance seems good. Pros: - Price - lots of features for the price - HDMI reduces the clutter of…

Exactly what I wanted from receivers and amplifiers

I wanted an inexpensive HDMI AV Receiver with all the features in the world. Well this is the closest I could get and I am very happy with this purchase. If you use all HDMI devices like me, it will take about 5 minutes to set up. HDMI to TV. Connect speakers. Turn on the TV. Turn on the receiver. Enjoy. Great sound right out of the box! With a little tweaking, it sounds fantastic, especially for a $200 bedroom surround sound system. I have a more expensive setup in my living room and I have to

Great AV receiver with some problems

I didn't expect to buy this AV receiver. I mainly looked at Harman Kardon and Denon, both expensive but brands I have no problem with. Sony, on the other hand, is a company I've grown tired of lately (mainly because their new products seem poorly designed and cheap). This receiver is not what I expected from Sony. It is housed in a very nice all-metal body, has 7.1 channels (130 watts per channel), a very good remote control and excellent performance. I decided to buy mainly because the Harman…
