Excellent DVD Recorder

I purchased this item from TigerDirect (also highly recommend) and it is absolutely excellent. I captured movies from a camcorder (including Sony), photos from a computer, and music. There's nothing this burner can't do. I did a lot of research before finally buying it. It was a very good choice. Sony makes great products and this is one of them.

Pros
  • Regular Price
Cons
  • Very Expensive

The weighty best among DVD players and recorders

The goods arrived, were installed quickly and then the "fun" started. I got a list of valid drives online and tried updating the software, but Sony has stopped supporting this article. When I asked about the software, I got a message that they "would be happy to fix it for a flat fee" ($100), nothing about the existence of software updates. So I removed and installed some data on the recommended DVD and after an hour I tried to finalize the disc and it gave me an error. Right now I'm trying to…

  • Provides pleasant sensations

A worthwhile investment

I did not purchase this product from Revain, but I usually rely on other people's recommendations on this site, so here's my take. THIS PRODUCT IS A BIG INVESTMENT. The main reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the packaging doesn't clearly state which brands of blank DVDs are compatible. I bought 100 packs of Memorex DVD+R but the discs were not finalized. I contacted Sony support and found out that there is a list of approved brands. 4x (The support person also said TDK works, but it's not

Pros
  • Easy to set up
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Tries to be two gadgets at once - neither of them work properly

Sony clearly tried to create a great hybrid product, but it didn't achieve the goal. This product is NOT ready for prime time sale. First the good stuff - it looks good; Solidly built; and if you just want to record TV shows, old VHS or 8mm tapes, or download a program from TiVO, this will do. In "Offline" mode, it is easy to use. Now for the problems: 1. In "offline" mode there is no way to keep track of what you are recording - not in relation to this record. You need to run another output…

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • No automation

Intuitive, easy to use, some bugs

I have to admit I was a bit scared at first to step into the world of DVD recording and authoring. With all these formats, I was confused. And if you're like me, you have lots of old VHS tapes of your favorite shows taking up valuable shelf space in your living room. They also weigh a lot when you need to move them. But with the Sony DVDirect VRD-VC10, getting rid of the clutter on my videotapes was fun and easy. As a stand alone recorder, all choices and options are available through the well…
