Quality control can be an issue

The item I received was defective. Blue, the common wire had regular cuts throughout its length. I had to remap another wire to act as my common wire just to finish the project and get the heat back into the house. The gap was present at either end of the 30 or so feet I used.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Was damaged

Thermostat Wire - Electrical Wire

I took a Southwire 18/5 thermostat wire to upgrade the mu power wire so I can install my new smart thermostat. This wire is fine, but I wish the outer shell was a little stiffer. It will get the job done, but be careful not to hook it in too tightly when starting. It can literally be pierced with a fingernail. It's not thin, but it's soft.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Received Nuance

Great wire for outlet

Works as described. I replaced an old 4-wire cable in my house with this 5-wire cable to properly set up my Nest thermostat. The old four-wire circuit resulted in a short cycle of the device, but installing a five-wire circuit eliminated the problem and the device works perfectly. The price was only slightly cheaper than the stores, but the stores were sold out, so overall the best choice.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Weight

Used set is not quite correct

This rating refers to a used wire. The wire itself looks brand new with the ends of the spool broken off (note that they are jagged). You may need to be aware that the wire size is incorrectly listed by the manufacturer, so it likely falls into the 'used' category. The wire size (according to my two different wire tools) is AWG 20, not AWG 18. A good buy if AWG 20 suits you.

Pros
  • Robust workmanship
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

This is a spool of wire.

We bought Nest to have better control of our convection oven. When I removed the old thermostat I was sad that there were only two wires connected to the oven. Luckily I was able to run this spool of wire to the oven and now we have full control of our oven. It even gave us control over the fans that we didn't have before. How interesting. All five wires carried power, so I guess that's all I needed.

Pros
  • 18 gauge copper conductors
Cons
  • Hardware

Turn off the oven first!

Thermostat cable works as it should. There are no questions about the durability of the skin. I bought this mainly because I bought a Nest thermostat and wanted the common cord to provide a constant power supply so the Nest wouldn't go into the oven to charge its batteries. Installation was easy, but don't make the same stupid mistake I did. I didn't turn off the power to the furnace and ended up causing a short circuit I wasn't aware of. Was scared because it was very cold and had to urgently…

Pros
  • Rated voltage 150 volts
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Near perfect wire despite some minor quality control issues.

When I was upgrading my thermostat I needed a 5th wire which led me to Revain to purchase this item. It comes in a 50ft spool, which is a very good length of wire for a standard run. The wires came off beautifully and I had no problem making strong connections between the oven and the thermostat. There were no breaks on the wire and I assume this wire will outlive me. The only reason to hit the star once was that the brown outer coating ripped about 1/3 of the way and detached right out of the…
