Spal is the best of the best

Works great! Be VERY careful not to over-tighten the little nut on the end of the thermal switch or you'll break the epoxy or whatever the bolt is, and then when you hear a pop you realize you've just broken it. I would buy again. Spal makes great products!

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Appearance

Very helpful. Be sure to define a permanent outlet for the fan to operate. I used an extra tab on the solenoid mounted on the right inner fender. Use a 10-20 degrees lower temperature sensor to activate the fan when installing an aluminum heatsink, and connect the sensor to the lower right side of the heatsink. I now have a 165F sensor. All is well in my CJ world.

  • Acceptable

Failed after 2 weeks

If this was connected to a SPAL fan it failed. I bought this because I didn't want a cheap one that would fail in the middle of nowhere. Well, there I was. Luckily I was able to hook up 12V DC and get home after overheating. Unfortunately I ended up coming back with Revain too as it wasn't installed until 2 weeks after purchase. So my advice is to skip that and maybe just go with the 2 cheaper ones so you have a backup in case one fails.

Nice little relay. 3/8 " NPT is a problem

Great little relay, be sure to get a 3/8" NPT thermostat housing adapter to lower radiator hose or you have no choice but to install it with a one- /off switch, the 1/2 inch adapter is useless as they are even harder to find. And good luck finding a 3/8" NPT adapter on ebay, not sure why they decided to make it so much larger than the standard 1/8" NPT, but besides that it works very well with I still want to buy a 3/8" NPT adapter so I can't comment on how well it works. But other than that…

Well built best in lighting and electricity

This relay kit is well built and appears to use good quality wire of the right gauge. The relay case has a gasket to protect it from water. The only downside I can say is that it took about 3 weeks to get it in the mail. If you have free time this is a great set for your money. Edit: I installed this kit and everything fits perfectly. The instructions are very clear and well written. This kit supports up to two fans as long as they don't draw more than 40 amps together. The kit also includes…

Bought a Spal fan for my Sunbeam Tiger and bought a set of cables for it. They sent a relay, fuse base, fuse (30 and 40) amp with an extra wire if the application is for 2 fans, a thermal switch (similar to a temp sensor sender unit) with an adapter if needed, e.g. a larger hole. in a water jacket and very long wires, making it suitable for almost any application. He also had great instructions, written in English and easy to understand. The connection went smoothly and I would recommend this…

Plenty of wiring for lighting and electrical equipment

Used to fit a 16" SPAL fan in a 1997 BMW M3. To the junction box and route the wires along the engine bay alongside the existing wiring harness for a clean install Comes with a temp switch I considered buying a tee to connect to one of the coolant hoses but ended up connecting to BMW's existing auxiliary fan temp switch instead The instructions are fairly simple but straight forward I think they are as the harness is meant to be universal, you may need to consult your favorite automotive forum…
