🌀 Spal 30103011 5.2-inch Paddle Blade Cooling Fan with Puller Option Review

Very high quality fan. It moves a ton of air. I used it on a radiator mounted under the seat of a scooter for a liquid cooled conversion. Initially the scooter was not getting enough airflow and exceeded 220 degrees. This fan, combined with a $15 electric thermostat kit, keeps my temperature below 190. The thermostat turns it on at 190 and within 10 seconds it cools the system down to 160 degrees and off again. Worth the extra money compared to $20 Chinese fans.

I don't know how I didn't notice this fan when I did a twin install on my Speed Triple a few years ago. In the summer, my Triumph always overheated with just one fan. Since I used two fans I never had a problem. This Spal fan replaces a fan that I wasn't happy with due to its fit and appearance. This fan looks exactly like Spal's OEM fan except for the cover. Fan works great as mentioned in many other reviews. For reference, I used it to replace the factory fan on a 2015 Duke 390. Installation is fairly easy, just cutting a piece of fairing to fit factory mounting hardware. As an added benefit, the factory cable connector can be easily replaced with the connector supplied with Spal. This ensures a nice clean installation when complete. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a more reliable/high performance fan for your 2015 Duke 390.

I bought this to solve the terrible fan problems some model years had. I installed mine on a 2016 KTM Duke 390. It was easy. The hardest parts (that weren't hard) were grinding down a post with a dremel or other cutting tool and loosening the fork. I bought this fan to replace a poor quality OEM radiator fan for my sons 2016 KTM RC390 Duke. The OEM fan failed, but the fuse was blown beforehand. This "flat" SPAL fan competes with few other 5.2" fans in the price range, but compared to them I think THIS fan is much better. First off, it's probably the thinnest and most powerful fan for its compact size. It appears to be well designed and there is evidence of a high level of quality control in the manufacturing process by this Italian company.
