Stylish and Practical: Speck Products SmartShell 🔴 Case in Poppy Red for MacBook Air 11-Inch Review

When I received it one of the tabs holding the bottom wasn't molded straight out of the box. This rendered the bottom half unusable and fell off when I picked the computer off a flat surface or when it was touched in any way. The top has cracked in 6 places from normal use. Almost useless.

I have to rate this thing negative. The second star is just for the aesthetics and the fact that I've had Speck cases in the past which I've really liked. I bought it for a new 13" MacBook Air. patient and not inclined to force things. I wish I'd checked the instructions, but for some reason I didn't. either way, the tiny flanges that the Holding bottom at the back corners began to discolor and basically just "cracked". I've had this case for a month now and when I picked up my computer the other day I noticed something was rough and sharp. It was a chipped corner of the case, which doesn't make sense to me considering I've never dropped this computer and the only place it's ever been is on my desk when I take it with me, which I do only done twice is in an external soft case. Within the first two weeks it cracked, parts broke off and it didn't want to stay on the laptop. Update: I've had it for two months now and it's cracking and breaking. continued. I mostly use my laptop in my room, on my bed. It's like that all the time on soft surfaces. This case did absolutely nothing to protect my laptop and only caused me problems. I cling to my clothes and pinch the skin where it tears. It was removed from my laptop today and thrown away.

shortly after I put it on it broke without dropping it or anything. The tabs holding it keep breaking, so I'm only left with two of the five holding the top half. The bottom half never fits perfectly, so I don't even use it. I usually love bacon products but this falls short of expectations. I love the color, that's the only reason it gets two stars.

I never write reviews but thought I should for this one. I bought this product in December, now it's April. The upper part of the case fits me so far. There are a few scratches but otherwise everything is fine. On the other hand, the bottom half of the case is not very good. The corners that wrap around the computer's edges have fallen off completely, and the underside guards have fallen off as well. The bottom of the cover falls off a lot and is difficult to put back on. For the price I paid…

I am a full time student and this case has withstood the rigors of lugging and carrying my laptop around, at least so far. and several times a day from my backpack. My laptop had some minor damage to the brittle plastic pieces holding the bottom of the case, but I think that's partly due to daily use. I'm in my first semester at university, let's see how long it takes!
