Great heater core for automotive needs

Through trial and error, I found that this heater core was the perfect replacement for my old one. It was easy to install and works great in keeping the car's cabin warm on cold days. The quality of the materials is impressive and there have been no leaks or issues so far.

This is a nice unit that installs easily once you get to the 30+ screws holding the fiberglass panel and screens that need to be removed to access the heater core on my 1981 Caprice . (If something doesn't come off easily, you probably forgot a screw or two). I've found that the top of this unit is slightly different from the factory original, so you'll have to improvise to get the clamp mount on the top of the unit (with ground strap) to work. Ordered this radiator for a 1978 Chevy. Tubes, height, width, everything seems to be the right size. The upper tanks, where the tube enters the core, were slightly wider than the factory tanks, so the clamp holding the core did not fit. I had to move it back about 1/4 inch or so. Otherwise it is similar to any other heater core. It's aluminum and factory brass/copper. Aluminum cores transfer heat much more efficiently given the surface area of the fins, so we'll see if the heat is better or…
