There's a lot of junk in that gravel, I mean a ton of airborne particles (which can ruin your filter). I had to rinse and rinse and rinse to remove all potentially dangerous parts, and yet probably not all. And to make matters worse, they are much lighter than shown in the picture, ranging from purple to pink. Since the color is so vibrant I now have to find and buy an extra pack of dark purple to mix with to get the desired effect.

Warning to future buyers of this product: This gravel contains metal, glass and gypsum pebbles. All of these items are painted to match the rest of the gravel. I only found them by brushing the gravel while cleaning the tank. The glass and metal pieces do not appear to affect the aquarium, but the gypsum pieces will break down in the aquarium leaving nothing but paint for bottom fish to swallow. I would not recommend this brand to friends or family.
