Jaws are best rough in the vise

Heavy duty adjustable angle vise. The cast iron is uneven and this will make the jaws uneven because the tops of the jaws don't align by about 1/8 inch end-to-end. Despite the uneven jaws, the vise works well. Mounting screws were not included, so you will need to provide your own. I used 2" #14 pan head screws to attach the base to the workbench. The vise can be removed from the base when not in use. Overall good value for the money.

Pros
  • Ratchet handle allows for fine adjustment and clears the edge of the workbench
Cons
  • High price

The jury is still out on this one-of-a-kind vise.

In short, I love the vise design. I was hoping it would be fully functional and worth the money. I have a high tech vise with serrated jaws that run and clamp like a cheap cloned vise from a long boat trip and from far away lands. The parts were poorly assembled, the long hex head screws looked bent, misaligned, and the assembly didn't look very neat. The SpeedJaw vise needed lubrication for the ratchet to work. Otherwise, the speed reset ratchet would not work. Requires lubrication, reassembly

Pros
  • 6" Jaws - 6" wide jaws open maximum 6-5/8" with 2" jaw depth
Cons
  • New competition has arrived

With a few modifications it turned out to be a good vise.

So I built myself a nice workbench that can be folded up and out of the way when I need more garage space, so I needed a low profile vise and the 4 inch version of this vise is what you need. Overall I think it's a pretty good vise, but I had to make some minor tweaks to it to get it right. First thing I noticed was that the two screws holding the vise in place weren't engaging the mounting ring properly. I found the ring was cast iron and the cast line matched all the notches. I took a 7/32"…

Pros
  • Detachable Base Bracket - Unit attaches to clock face with 360 degree position marked
Cons
  • Out of fashion
