I love these shoes - I threw away the laces before I even put them on! The shoe slides great and no sole worries - it's a full grip boat shoe with no hard spots. Unfortunately, some Sperry models have half-grip and semi-slip soles - these are good ones! They don't last that long - maybe 1/2 year before there is a hole in the sole - but they have a good boat sole and the spandex keeps them on well without laces. I love the look and fit of these Sperrys. The arch support doesn't look like a gym shoe, but it's exactly what I want in a running shoe. After a few months of wearing, they still look great. I recommend spraying them with Scotchguard, it repels water and makes cleaning easier. There is a slight separation of the sole from the canvas where the boot flexes as you walk. I have the same problem with a $200 Nike Metcon 3 and a bit of shoe glue holds it all together.

Sperry appear to have redesigned their canvas sneakers from a version that worked better for me. I'm writing this review in case others are in the same boat. The previous version had no caps, no grommets in the arches and was a bit more spacious. This new version of the same size cuts my arch due to the stitching in the toe box, it's too narrow and too short causing my big toe tips to hit the front of the shoe with every step. I bought these for a summer job as a deckhand on a schooner in New York. After an hour, the sole came off the canvas body, and the canvas tore after a couple of days. After 3 weeks the entire body of the shoe detached from the sole. I've never seen a pair of shoes fall apart like that. Total POS. It's a shame because I used to love the Sperry brand.
