Spigen Rugged Armor Google Pixel 5a Case - Matte Black - Designed for Pixel 5a 5G (2021) Review

Fits well but even with grippy parts on the sides I find it very slippery (more so than a caseless phone). The back is almost completely smooth, which on the other hand allows for a better grip on a pop-based jack or other phone mount of your choice. When my phone fell off the table onto the floor, the screen broke and stopped working. He fell on one of the corners of the fuselage, but that didn't help. I used a similar model for my Pixel 2 for a few years and it worked great, but something has changed with this model. The older model also worked great with PopSockets, this one has a different texture and isn't sticky.

The buttons stay pressed and are responsive even though this case covers them - really. I was concerned about this but the buttons are fine. Has the slightest edge to protect the screen from scratches when you put the phone face down on the table and another edge that protects the camera from bumps. Beautiful matte texture with fine, persistent edges. There is a slight sheen on the back. This is a great case.

My last 3 phones were Google Pixel and they all had a Spigen Rugged Armor case. As close as possible to a non-fall case, but still offers reasonable protection against drop/fall damage. They fit well, have a good grippy texture, but still fit nicely in your pocket (although the phones themselves have gotten bigger). These are good cases for people who don't want to carry their phones in cases. Look elsewhere if you want flashy or additional features like coasters or card slots.

As you can see, I used a similar case from Spigen for the Pixel 3XL. It was unobtrusive, comfortable, and has protected my phone for the past several years.
