Description of 🦆 Spode Woodland Pheasant 3.5 Pint Pitcher

REVERED HISTORY: In 1770, the outstanding skills and creativity of Josiah Spode were realized when he opened his factory in Stoke-on-Trent, England. During his life, Josiah Spode perfected many techniques, two of which were blue underglaze printing and the formula for Fine Bone China. COVETED CERAMICS: Josiah perfected the process for blue undergalze printing on earthenware from hand engraved copper plates in 1784. Ever since the introduction of this process, Spode's original blue and white designs have become some of the most sought after in the history of ceramics. LEADING STANDARDS: The formula for Fine Bone China is also accredited to Josiah Spode; in 1799 it was this formula which gave bone china its brilliant whiteness and delicate translucency, which inspired new standards within the ceramic industry. CONSISTENT QUALITY: Today, using techniques and designs from a wealth of authentic engravings and moulds carefully preserved within the archives, many of the same designs and items are again being produced to the delight of conoisseurs and collectors. It is also these wonderful techniques which allow Spode to continually introduce new collections year after year creating items for collectors of the future. SPECIFICATIONS: Bring the classic style of the English countryside to your table with Woodland dinnerware. This Pheasant Pitcher is perfect for any dinnerware or serveware collection and is sure to be beautiful addition to any table. The pitcher is made of fine porcelain and can hold up to 3.5 pints of liquid. It is microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safe.

Beauty with Function

This china is beautiful and the canisters are perfect for my purpose. They're not big, not for flour or sugar, but perfect for tea bags or pantry specialties. My goal is decorative in cabinets with glass doors. The lid has a rubber seal.

Pros
  • LEADING STANDARDS: Fine bone china formula also endorsed by Josiah Spode; In 1799, it was this formula that gave bone china its lustrous whiteness and delicate transparency, inspiring new standards in the ceramics industry.
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Less expensive than department stores

I saw this at a local store recently but it retails for $130. It's a beautiful dish and more versatile than turkey, but I wish there was more depth of colour/contrast for what I'm thinking is a red grouse or maybe a female pheasant? Nevertheless, the feathers are visually uninteresting, hence the four stars. That aside I think it's great value for money and a dish to use on the table or as a decorative item for the fall/winter season.

Pros
  • SPECIFICATIONS: Bring classic English country style to your table with Woodland tableware. Perfect for any collection of crockery or serving utensils, this Pheasant Pitcher is sure to make a beautiful addition to any table. The jug is made of fine porcelain and can hold up to 3.5 liters of liquid. There is a microwave, a dishwasher and a freezer.
Cons
  • Useless features

Beautiful Spode best in Kitchen & Dining

Like the less ornate Delamere, Spode Woodland is perfect for Thanksgiving in the fall. of Portmeirion) and (mostly) sent to China for production. I have new and vintage pieces from England and China and I promise they look great together. The same goes for the Christmas tree pattern. Besides, who turns a dish over to see where it's being prepared when it's filled with your delicious food? Another plus? The new Made in China products are microwaveable.

Pros
  • HONORABLE HISTORY: In 1770 the excellence and creativity of Josiah Spode was realized when he opened his factory in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Throughout his life, Josiah Spode perfected many techniques, two of which were underglaze blue printing and fine bone china formula.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

I bought it and agree it's good, but it's made in China and should be mentioned. I don't want to pay $58 for something that costs a $5 fabricator labor and materials. It's better than the butter dish which is also overpriced and made in China. The butter dish does not fit in a standard American butter cube. A quarter inch had to be cut off or the lid would hit the oil. All plates, dinner, salad etc appear to be made in England. Sure, make some in China, but don't charge the buyer as if they…

Pros
  • WANTED POTTERY: Josiah perfected the process of printing blue ground on earthenware from hand-engraved copper plates in 1784. Since the introduction of this process, Spode's original blue and white designs have become some of the most coveted in the history of pottery.
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Beautiful Spode best in Beverage Serveware

Like the less ornate Delamere, Spode Woodland is such a fitting piece for Thanksgiving in the fall.
