Great upgrade from the NX switch

This is a significant upgrade from the all plastic NX switch. Shifting is quick, crisp and clean. Installation is a simple swap and adjustment. The only problem is that the mounting ring is not intuitive and takes 2-3 clicks to install it in the right place.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black

Clumsy switch, but it does the job.

I had to buy these as I was upgrading to a 50 tooth cassette and chose this one because it was the cheapest. One direction only, thumbs only, no finger controls.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Legacy

A must if you have an NX groupset

I have a full NX groupset on a Trek 9.7 and the local bike shop recommended the GX derailleur as a great upgrade and they weren't lying. This switch feels twice as good as the NX switch. Super crisp and clean clicks and a much more responsive and premium feel compared to the NX switch.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Sram, best quality at an affordable price

Get the GX rear derailleur. There were problems with factory components. Should shift perfectly, right? Well, now it's time! I'm running an 11x50 cassette with a 28 tooth front ring and a long cage Sram NX derailleur on a Stumpy 29er. Great climber. Tolerances on 11-speed cassettes are tighter, resulting in rattling and spooky shifting. A stiffer rear derailleur is needed to accommodate more tension. This is where the Sram GX fits into the puzzle. You want to hear the shifter, not yourโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
