The little bug gave me a lot of headaches on my truck but found a new one here on Amazon that fixed all of my problems with lights not working.

. My 04 Ranger's reverse lights stopped working after the gearbox work was completed. Now they work thanks to this little thing! I used the square (round) end of a 7/8" wrench to turn off the old switch. The adjustable wrench didn't work. It's a small area so it would be difficult to put a ratchet there.

Perfect match for my 1998 FordRanger XLT 2.5 engine. If the reverse light does not come on after installing the switch, check for a blown 15A fuse. It's number 27 in the car, to the left of the steering wheel. Replace blown fuse. Start the car, put your shifter in the backup position to see if the reverse light comes on.
