Complete Junk in my review

Thanks to my knowledge gained in practice, I can say that this resistor is a complete waste of money. It failed within a week of installation and caused my engine to overheat. The only positive thing about it is that it was easy to install. Don't buy this cheap junk, invest in a higher quality product.

Pros
  • Durable and long-lasting
Cons
  • May require professional installation to ensure proper function

An improvement over the OEM fan motor resistor. It has a waterproof coating!

Bought for my 2001 Chevy Cavalier and works great. The resistor is coated to keep moisture out which causes these things to fail in the first place. Installation wasn't much fun, but it wasn't overly difficult either if you had the right tools. There are videos on YouTube demonstrating the installation and the necessary tools. Note that the heads of the screws holding the fan motor can break easily. Learn from my mistake and be careful! I am very happy with my purchase.

Pros
  • Engine Cooling & Climate Control
Cons
  • Vulgarity

The real part is when your fan stops working!

Over the years I've had to replace 3 of these on my old 1997 Cavalier and have dealt with them fairly well. My son is a freshman in college and we found a brand new 2000 Little Old Lady Cavalier and chose it as our first car. After 3 months the first speed of his fan motor stopped working so I knew what to do. I used to always buy OEM resistors but they broke after a few years. The problem is that condensation collects in the resistive circuit and burns out the rail. This one had a shrink cover

Pros
  • Spare parts
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
