great for holding earring pins

nothing to compare but this thing seems real top quality and to be very accurate. I just used it to hold the shank of the earring while carving the prongs with the dremel tool. He held them tight and prevented them from spinning without damaging the soft gold pins. I cannot be happier with this purchase. Pros
  • TURNED FINGER DESIGN: Starrett's 162 pin vise has little knobs that allow for quick rotation between the thumb and forefinger when working on fine details
Cons
  • so far so good

Of course, Starrett makes 162B and 162C vises for the larger sizes. The small vice is very well made, I think they are from the USA. Well done - shows quality. It's small. It is approximately 3" long and the handle is approximately 3/16" in diameter. You can put a micro drill in this vise and then put the vise in a regular drill chuck, although…
