Description of Starrett 443Z 3RL Micrometer Graduation Accuracy

Measurement range of 0 up to 9", and resolution of 0.001". Vernier scale for precise measurements in fine units. Includes adjustable, 5/32" diameter measuring rods to cover the range, one rod per inch of measurement. Two-inch long half base enables measurements close to shoulders and between obstructions. Bases and measuring surfaces are hardened, ground, and lapped for durability and accuracy.

Unreliable Accuracy for Industrial Use

As an engineer in the Industrial AND Scientific field I was extremely disappointed with this micrometer`s accuracy. As a result of my tests, I determined that the readings were inconsistent and frequently incorrect. While the design is sleek and easy to handle, the lack of precision renders it useless for precise dimensional measurements..

I needed the - Gauges

Anyone doing mechanical work or any other job that requires accurate depth readings really should have the quality of a Starrett depth mic like this. Since my work involves small parts, I need half a base micron.
