Works for eGPU: Thunderbolt cable

I'm using this to connect a Razer Chroma eGPU with an RTX 2080 Super GPU to my HP ZBook 15 Studio G3. I can't comment on the charging capabilities of this cable as my laptop doesn't support Thunderbolt charging, but the speeds are identical to what I got with the Razer Chroma eGPU using the included 0.5m cable. I used this cable for about 2 months before deciding to move my GPU away from my laptop. After using this cable for a month I can say that I don't see any difference in performance (good

Works for video for thunderbolt cable

First I bought this with my own money, no discount. Many USB-C cables do not support video. I needed this to connect my laptop to a portable USB-C display. The display accepts both video and power over the same connection. This is a 13.3 inch SZOON display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. I haven't tested it in 4K yet (I don't have a 4K monitor). I will update the review when I do. The cable that comes with the display is 1 meter long and fairly rigid. Since I have 2 displays as closeโ€ฆ

Will not work with 2018 Macbook Pro and Dell U4320Q

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro and a Dell U4320Q monitor. The cable that comes with the Dell monitor is very short and I need a longer cable so I can position my laptop next to my desk. The StarTech cable charged my laptop and connected USB devices, but the display was never recognized. I've tried various troubleshooting methods but to no avail. Using the Dell-supplied cable in the same configuration worked immediately with no issues. I suspect there is a subtle hardware or software compatibilityโ€ฆ

Works but weird physical connection issue with one of my TB3 devices

As far as reliably delivering a Thunderbolt signal for longer than usual for Thunderbolt over a sturdy cable, this is perfect. What worries me a little is that the cable's "connection" to one of my Thunderbolt 3 devices was extremely loose - like it wasn't fully "adhering". I've managed to get it to connect freely and stay indoors, but if the cable is significantly disturbed or even slightly tugged, it comes out. The device I'm having an issue with is an external Sonnet GPU from the Appleโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Best in the niche
Cons
  • Too dumb

Works flawlessly! at Thunderbolt Cables

I have a Macbook Pro and wanted to run a huge 49 inch monitor with a single cable and still get the maximum resolution I need. If your monitor doesn't have USB-C Thunderbolt 3, this task might be difficult to accomplish. I have a Caldigit TS3+ that acts as an intermediary between my MBP and my monitor. I wasn't particularly happy that I had to spend so much money on a cable, but I realized that Thunderbolt cables don't come cheap. And you can't just buy any Thunderbolt cable for this purposeโ€ฆ

  • Like all before
Cons
