After a long search I found this gem. My best upload speed is 90mb/s with my cards and until I found that out I never paid attention to it. I used to have 19MB/s on my old readers but now I'm downloading videos and waiting for 4 x 64GB cards to download one after another was driving me crazy. This shortens the waiting time considerably. I can't believe a multi SD card reader is so rare. It's currently the only one on the market for less than $150 so I had to buy it.

Well, apart from the fact that this thing is fast (SO FAST), I like the design. It just feels high quality. First, nice smooth, rounded corners. And I know that doesn't apply to everyone, but it suits the space gray of my MBP. And the finishing touch is a nice "bounce" when inserting cards, just like in a camera. Too many other SD card readers just stick the card in until you think it's in. Putting it in and then a bit of springing just gives me more peace of mind. Well working and easy to use…

I'll give it two stars on the condition that I need a 4-slot multi-card reader that works out of the box. " I have two other multi-card readers (two slots each) that work fine with the same tested media. On a Mac, I've not been able to consistently access and play video files directly from the cards using QuickTime when using StarTech I as well found that the general build quality (although that aspect is much more "forgivable") was too cheap.

I think it's worth noting that this thing won't read a microSD card inserted into this unit via an adapter SD card becomes. My MP3 player only reads microSD cards. I have no problem copying music to a microSD card connected to my Mac via a microSD to SD adapter card. However, I thought this StarTech product could do the same thing - read a microSD card plugged into an SD adapter. This product works well for me. I was able to completely reorganize my SD card array so I don't always find the right card for the files I'm looking for, and it gave me the ability to copy back and forth between cards. (I used to have to upload/download to my main drive). The product supports higher speeds (anecdotally - haven't pulled the timer yet) and doesn't generate much heat.
