Great quality cable, bought a new 31 inch monitor with only VGA and HDMI connections, my graphics card only has DVI. That's why I bought this cable. it will be converted correctly. I just connected my monitor (first confirm your monitor's connection type) to my laptop's HDMI port (confirm your laptop has an HDMI port) and it worked connected. I built a new computer and it only has modern video outputs. My old monitor still works fine and I wanted it as a backup so I bought it to connect the HDMI output to the monitor's DVI-D input.
