I built a new computer and it only has modern video outputs. My old monitor still works fine and I wanted it as a backup so I bought it to connect the HDMI output to the monitor's DVI-D input. It works. There was a slight pixel instability on first use which I initially thought was the cable. The second time I used it it didn't, and now I believe it was the combination recognition software. I have used other StarTech products and they have been good. The cable is medium thick and a bit stiff, but this is usually not a problem.
