Exactly the product I needed.

This product works as described. I'm using this as a NIC ports expander for my VMWare ESXI lab server and after finding the right drivers it works great.

Second network adapter for Intel NUC as Esxi host

Used as a second USB to Ethernet network adapter for my Intel NUC (with custom VIB installation). Works as second Esxi adapter for Intel NUC kit NUC6i5SYH BOXNUC6I5SYH (just google it)

This worked very well for a few months, but after a while.

This worked reasonably well for a few months, but after a while the adapter just rebooted and lost connection. You have to unplug it and plug it back in. Reset all my network connections/tunnels. Very annoying.

Works great but there is a possible limitation

I needed the ability for my Microsoft Surface Pro 6 tablet to connect to two different networks. This device serves its purpose perfectly. Very glad it has a USB pass-through connector too. The only limitation I had with this device was the inability to use the Wake-on-LAN feature. If it works in this setup I don't know how.

Good choice if you don't have a LAN connection on your laptop

I bought a Cable Matters USB3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Network Adapter and it worked great for Windows 10 and I thought , it could work for 2012R2. I contacted cable issues and they said it would work. It's not like this. I looked at this Star Tech USB3.0 to Dual Port Gigabit and it also said it would work for Windows 10 but didn't say it would work for Server 2012R2. I left a message for Star Tech and they said it would work so I bought it. I got it today and hooked it up to my 2012R2 server and itโ€ฆ
