StarTech Com IEEE 1394 FireWire Cable 1394_96_6 Review

I was glad to find this excellent FireWire cable as I found my original iPod which charges with a FireWire cable (long lost). Since the iPod is almost 20 years old, it's great to hear some of my original songs!

My trusty 15ft cables from 10 years ago work great with my audio interfaces, these 2 25ft NOTS. I ordered two of these 25 foot FireWire 6-6 cables. One of these was open/unsealed - it didn't work. The other one worked at first and then stopped working. Went back to the old cables (they really aren't long enough, but I'll get them to work). Bottom line: I'm not sure the quality of these cables is worth it - they're very flimsy and don't seem capable of carrying a clean signal at high speeds…

What can I say about the Firewire cable? Not much I think. But yes, another good cable from Startech, it was cheap for the price but the durability of this cable is better than any other. I used this cable to connect my Presonus studio mixer to my computer, so I always carry it with me. I was impressed with the quality and warranty of this cable compared to the previous cable I bought from Amazon which crashed my computer repeatedly. I am confident in the quality of this cable and will be contacting Startech for future data cable needs.

I needed to retrieve data and images from an old black Macbook with Firewire 400 installed. This cable worked great and was reasonably priced.

Used to connect the digital output of a professional 32-channel mixer to a 2010 MacBook Pro. No trouble connecting or recording 32 audio channels.
