Doesn't work with my Asrock motherboard

My Asrock motherboard has a PS/2 combo connector and I was hoping to combine that connector with a PS/2 and a PS/2 mouse could use. but I couldn't get it to work after trying a few things found online. I gave up after a while and went with USB. It might not be fair to give only 3 stars as it could be a motherboard compatibility issue. But then again, what's the point of these splitters and PS/2 combo motherboards if they don't work together?

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • So far so good

In my experience the adapter doesn't work

I thought I found the right solution for my Asus desktop which only comes with a PS/2 port. I plugged it in but was frustrated because the keyboard still worked but not the mouse, not to mention the next time the computer got stuck on startup saying press delete or F 2 to go to settings go bios after I came back, removed the adapter, just put the keyboard back. PS 2 port on the desktop and uses a different adapter, PS 2 to USB for the mouse, which may or may not be a separate issue. At thisโ€ฆ

Mouse not working on ASUS Hero XI Combo Port

I sourced a very basic PS/2 keyboard and USB mouse to ensure there were no PS/2 275mA power supply issues. With this cable, the keyboard works all the time. Many different mice didn't even contain an LED to make it work. The mouse buttons didn't work either. I believe this is an ASUS/Win 10 issue and not the fault of this cable which looks very well made. I also changed the i1042prt registry to =1, nothing changed.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Must be zero stars

I got one of these and the green side didn't work at all. Sent in for a replacement which arrived 2 days later (the only good thing about this offer) but the new one is exactly the same. The purple side works with an attached keyboard or mouse, while the green side works with nothing. I connected my keyboard and mouse directly to the computer's PS2 port and everything works fine. There is a problem with the cable.

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

Doesn't work at all with Asus Z390-A motherboard

My new Asus Z390-A motherboard came with a combo port which requires a splitter if you want to run a keyboard AND a mouse. So I bought this thinking they couldn't screw up something so simple. Well they did. Connect a mouse to the mouse connector and a keyboard to the keyboard connector. Nothing. When starting the system, the absence of a keyboard is reported. The mouse does not work when Windows starts. Someone said that confusing keyboard and mouse might help. I just found out that the mouseโ€ฆ

First, check the specifications of your device.

Does not work with Asus Sabertooth 990fx motherboard. Since the motherboard documentation doesn't include this information (whether or not a single PS/2 port is capable of this), I wasn't expecting this to work, but figured it was only $5, so it might I try it just as well. Logically, that won't work. Not sure if it's an old IBM style Y-splitter or if data from both peripherals goes to the same pin, but as it works for some I suspect the former and my motherboard only supports one or the otherโ€ฆ

  • Excellent overall performance

  • Fair

Can be problematic in some installations

The so-called standard for combining a PS/2 mouse and keyboard into a single PS/2 connection to a computer or docking station doesn't seem to be implemented in the same way be from all manufacturers. The discrepancy relates to how one of the devices' data and clock signals are remapped to the two nominally unused pins (2 and 6) of the same 6-pin mini-DIN connector on the computer. If this Y-cable doesn't work when a keyboard and mouse are plugged into the designated ports, try swapping them, ie
