Doesn't work with my Asrock motherboard

My Asrock motherboard has a PS/2 combo connector and I was hoping to combine that connector with a PS/2 and a PS/2 mouse could use. but I couldn't get it to work after trying a few things found online. I gave up after a while and went with USB. It might not be fair to give only 3 stars as it could be a motherboard compatibility issue. But then again, what's the point of these splitters and PS/2 combo motherboards if they don't work together?
