Unreliable Best in Computers & Accessories

Get used to a clogged Event Viewer and erratic system performance. Even with perfectly working M.2 SSDs (tested on a 2nd and 3rd known good computer) this card will randomly fail/report as missing.

Pros
  • Durable Surface
Cons
  • Modern

It's been a few weeks and he's still working like a champ

A few weeks have passed and he's still working like a champ. I play on this computer and run virtual machines, so I/O is important. You can get the best performance from M2 SSDs by grouping them in Raid 0 on the PCIe channel. Copied data from my old M2 to this 800MBP beast!

Pros
  • Builds confidence
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Works perfectly. Star.

Worked flawlessly for several months on my MSI B350M Mortar motherboard with two WD Blue M.2 Sata drives. Didn't even need an extra power cord. * Doesn't work on my new MSI B550M Mortar motherboard no matter what configuration I tried. Power on/off, M.2 in/out via motherboard slots, card in/out, card in any PCIE 16x slot. I suspect there was some sort of handshake issue between the device's BIOS and the motherboard, but I couldn't fix it. I can't even try to flash a new BIOS on this deviceโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Rough

PCIe running on FreeBSD

This 2 port (B-Key SATA) card worked right out of the box on my FreeBSD 10.3 system (Linux support is probably just as easy). There is no problem running it in a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot on an older system, although the manufacturer's website specs call for PCIe 3.0. chipset as a version with SATA passthrough). FreeBSD dmesg output: kernel: ahci0: <AHCI SATA controller> mem 0xf9ffe000-0xf9ffffff irq 28 on device 0.0 on pci1kernel: ahci0: AHCI v1.31 with 12 6 Gb/s ports, port multiplier isโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Has bugs

Works fine on my FreeNAS

I have a low power ITX mini mobile computer with 4 SATA ports. All of them are used on FreeNAS. I used the suggested setup for mirrored USB drives. 2 small cruisers Sandisk. About a year later, one of them dropped out. I replaced it and a few months later the other one broke. I don't think these are bad devices, they just aren't designed for 24/7 use. In any case, I need another solution. I had a PCI-e slot to work with. I bought a cheap M.2 "controller" not knowing that SATA cables are neededโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Minor issues
