Works well, nicely finished - plug and play.

This is a review of the StarTech.com USB-C to eSATA Cable 1m 5Gb/s for HDD/SSD/ODD with a single connector. e-sata to usb-c There is so much misinformation about this connector in the reviews that it is difficult to buy it. But of course it works with raids, but not with sequential disks. I use it in a G-Tech Raid case with two drives and a hardware controller. The hard drive is now faster than anything I've had in the past - it would just be faster than SATA to SATA.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Fast data transfer - just for one drive

Data transfer is 10 times faster than USB 2.0! I'm very happy with the speed, but the problem is that I can't use it properly with the hard drive dock as it only supports one drive.

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • Not the best option

Does not work with external hard drives with more than 1 drive.

Would give 1 star because nowhere in the description does it say the cable only works with single external hard drives. If your case contains 2 or more drives like mine, it won't work. The reason for the 2 stars is because the Q&A and Reviews section has that information, but the description should specifically state that the cable is for single drives only. Waste of money and going back.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • High Price

Does not work with multidisk eSATA controllers!

For a single eSATA drive, this adapter might work well; However, if you have an eSATA enclosure with multiple drives, this adapter will NOT work. It supports only one device. This should be very clear in the item description, but it isn't. They probably have another product that supports multiple drive enclosures: https://smile.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Thunderbolt-eSATA-Adapter-Windows/dp/B079H56RNW/

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Nothing here

Works Cables & Interconnects

Recently purchased to connect old eSata drives to USB-C. This worked as expected. I used Retrospect to duplicate the data and then compare the copied data. No transmission errors were reported.

  • Feels good

Worth every penny! OMG!

I have an old 2TB G-Drive (1 MICRO USB, 2 FW800, 1 eSATA) which I think predates Thunderbolt. To date I have tried every port on this drive except eSata. I highly recommend this cable! You should own it if you have old hard drives connected via eSata and you have a computer that uses USB-C. I'm transferring 102GB right now and it takes 12-15 minutes. My brain exploded. Do not be shy! You need to buy this as soon as possible. I will buy a second one as a backup cable. Also, this is the first…

Pros
  • 3ft USB C to eSATA Cable / 3ft USB 3.0 to eSATA Cable / USB C to eSATA Adapter / 3ft USB Type C to eSATA Cable
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Not as originally described.

USB 3.0 Speed C Adapter. I had to contact Startech to sort this out. The correct item (eSATA to USB 3.0) is Startech product #USB3S2ESATA3. I wanted to transfer 2 gigabytes of data from an old external hard drive to a new one via my old laptop, but my computer only has USB 3.0 or 2.0 ports, so USB C is useless, hopefully Startech will update the Revain website description. I gave them 3 stars because it looks like a good product (albeit with the wrong description) and for good customer service…

Pros
  • 1 meter cable allows installation anywhere so you can do all those tasks in the lab/on someone's desk/in the field
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide
