well made--weird pockets, no liner

This coat is for men who want to look like they spend time splitting firewood and working on a farm. It's not for men who split firewood and work on a farm.I live in a region with cold and snowy winters and am active outside in cold weather on a regular basis either for winter sports or doing chores. I liked the idea of this coat--an old school wool top layer that I could wear with various combinations of base layers to suit the conditions. However, the pocket layout is useless compared to many…

Pros
  • Excellent product as expected
Cons
  • Difficult to clean and maintain due to rugged materials

High Quality Wool Classic

Pros: Looks excellent and classic. Warm for windy winter days. Great company and outstanding quality coat. Collar stands up to block wind from neck. Add a scarf for very cold days. Love this coat!Cons: lower pockets are for hands only but they don’t hold keys well. Chest pockets are in awkward position to access and are shallow. Flap pockets with buttons are nice. No interior pockets which would be nice.

Pros
  • Came in mint shape and condition, but pricey.
Cons
  • Bulky design restricts movement and may not fit well under other clothing layers

A classic looking workhorse; but there's room for improvement

The coat fit as expected and the wool is both warm and durable - I used this coat to tap maple trees in 3-5⁰f without so much as snag or a loose fiber. A button-in liner would be a welcome improvement (I'm contemplating ordering a SK wool vest as a companion piece to layer with this coat). Another improvement would be to lower the hand-warmer pockets to be more accessible; or alternatively, adding flaps and deepening the pocket to be a secure breast pocket. Otherwise, I love it - I own two and…

Pros
  • The coat is great but is just the shell. You’ll need to layer for warmth.
Cons
  • Bottom fell off as my husband was putting it on. Kinda cheap for that price tag

Great construction, design is not so good

DescriptionI'm 5'8" around 215lbs. Around 48" chest, 38" waist. I purchased an XL charcoal wool Mackinaw.LikeThe materials and construction are top notch. Stiching, wool, buttons, etc are great. This thing also looks beautiful hanging on the hook. It is warm. I really want to love this coat, but the design leaves something to be desired.DislikeThe design. The sleeves are too long. The waist of the coat has excess material at the waist that bunches out. The chest slash pockets are too high up to

Pros
  • just what i wanted?
Cons
  • Not waterproof or water-resistant, making it unsuitable for wet weather conditions
