just what I was looking for in hand sanding products

The multipurpose packaging proved very convenient. The pads last a long time so it's good to have a pair at a time and as you use them you can gradually switch to a finer grit. Now the pads seem to be falling apart and after using them I have a bunch of steel strands lying around. But the finish is great

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Captins Log Day 25 for steel wool

Captins Log Day 25 Stardate 08/11/2021: The hole used by my little unwanted guests has been filled. Still no sightings from the last two days but the remaining enemies seem to be strengthening. Only time will tell how well my impenetrable steel wall will hold up. Five stars for use and quantity.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Not bad

Strong as a rock for rat holes

Ideal for holes in walls. I had an insect hole in my yard and the rats used it to get to my house. We filled the whole hole with this material (it's very similar to what washes dishes) and filled it with cement. Today (a month ago) everything is fine. 100% highly recommended

  • Good thing

Slightly difficult to unfold

I have used various grades of steel wool over the past 40 years. I think these current #00 pads from Homax Rhodes are good overall. But I've found in the past that other steel wool pads are much easier to "unroll" when I have to work with longer, thinner pads. I ended up wasting most of the center of each pad because I couldn't manipulate the material to suit the user's needs.

Pros
  • Flexibility in and around corners
Cons
  • Doubtful

Not pads but strips in finishing materials

This is steel wool so there isn't much of it to tell it apart from other steel wool products. The reason I gave it two stars is because the packaging and ad CLEARLY says "steel wool pads" but I had a huge folded strip of steel wool. There are nicks in places I think I should break them, but just ripping them apart with my hands doesn't seem to work as the steel wool is very concentrated in those places making them difficult to break. Getting the right amount of steel wool is very messy. I ended

Pros
  • The right combination of grades to meet different surface preparation needs
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Steel wool has many uses

Bought this for when toilet paper runs out again. I figured I could wipe it down and then rinse and let it dry and since it's steel it will last almost a lifetime. I went for the grading pack and it is summer and cob season where I live so I would start with a larger steel disc if needed and then move on to thinner discs to finish. I figured I'd better try my plan, I won't lie, it was a bit tingling, but I did it. I started with a single 0 and worked my way up to 000. I washed it and let it…

Pros
  • Includes 4 pcs Coarse (#3) for stripping, Medium (#0) for interlayers and Fine (000) for finishing
Cons
  • Available in black only
