I have both sizes of this auto block and use it for my escapement. I would recommend a 19" sling if you prefer lengthening and a smaller sling if you don't (dismount straight off the harness). This product works exactly as described. I use it as a friction clutch for reverse descents. I climb 2-3 days a week and have been using the Hollow Block Loop for about 2 months. I use it every time I go down the rope and as long as it lasts; seems to be tenable. I usually descend on a double rope with a thickness of 9.2-10.2 mm. It bites rope strands well.
