Great Paper for Charcoal Art

Based on my experience, this art paper is perfect for charcoal artwork. The rough texture of the paper holds the charcoal perfectly and gives a beautiful and unique texture to your artwork. The size of the sheets is also convenient for drawing detailed sketches or larger pieces. However, the paper may not be suitable for other art mediums as it is specifically designed for charcoal.

Pros
  • Perfect texture for charcoal artwork and convenient size.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for other art mediums.

. thin and you only get 24 sheets it's quite a thin notebook

because the paper is very thin and you only get 24 sheets it's quite a thin notebook slightly round or squishy which I do Haven't seen this on firmer pads, saying the paper itself is good quality and I'll experiment with other 400/500 series pads in the future.

Pros
  • some competitors
Cons
  • are unreliable

Considering it's archival, acid-free and expensive, you'd think it would be better than a cheap lined notebook that has to be snapped off the spool itself. Paper creases easily when torn off. No perforations, creases or even glued sides. You have to rip it out and then of course make a square, even intersect. I see it for budget paper but not for this brand. Come on, Strathmore, you can do better. This is the reason for 4 stars. I should never assume that buying a quality brand won't make you…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long lead time
